at an outdoor workshop in Brezovica/Brezovicë |
On 4th October 2003, two groups
of children from the Community Centre local school,
went to Brezovica/Brezovicë for a one-day,
outdoor painting workshop. They had painting classes
up on the mountain, and then free time for walking
or other sports activities.
The workshop was part of a six-month
project, “Painting for Peace and Tolerance”, a multiethnic
project involving Kosovo Albanian, Kosovo Serb,
Ashkali and Roma children. The project was funded
by the OSCE.
The idea was to promote reconciliation
amongst younger generations through supporting something
that all of them have in common – in this case,
a love for art and painting. Bringing them together
for the outdoor workshop gives them the unique opportunity
to meet each other, and to establish first contacts
and informal relations, in a relaxed environment.
The project also helped to identify
new local NGOs as implementing partners.
